Mountain State Fair

Posted in North Carolina, On Assignment by erinbrethauer on September 9, 2010

The paper sent me out this afternoon to get some set-up shots at the fair grounds just outside of Asheville.  All around me people were busy at work setting up rides, scrubbing concession stands, banding chickens and turkeys, herding Brahman cattle into stalls, blowing up plastic toys… It’s amazing how quickly everything is thrown together before the big opening.

After everything settles tonight, the fair will open tomorrow.  The crowds will take over, the lights will whirl on the rides and the air will be filled with the smell of funnel cakes (and other less delicate fried foods).

Remember when that ride, like the one above, made you puke?
